The porch at Spruce Lodge prior to renovation: a wonderful place, but sadly deteriorated and in the way.
Shifting of the foundation and fireplace, due to poor drainage under the house, was causing structural damage.
In order to fix the foundation and drainage, the west half of the porch had to go.
