Once we gave up on re-using the joists in situ, the frame came apart more quickly. Joists in good shape were tossed to the lawn where all the nails removed in preparation for storage.
Though we wouldn't put them back where they had been, we could find other uses for very strong, tight grained, full -dimension, old growth lumber.
