Porch Lights at Night
One crisp, cold night in September, I spent some time playing with the manual settings on a little pocket camera and took a bunch of night shots at camp.
Two hours of numb fingers
I love the way the place looks with porch lanterns glowing at night and I've often wished I could get photos that would show (at least vaguely) what it's like.
Dave helped me by turning lights on and off as I changed apertures and shutter speeds, setting up a ladder in the lawn as a tripod, waiting patiently while I took exposures as long as 15 seconds.
Bright western sky at dusk. 
... then it got darker.
Cold and clear: brilliant moonlight and countless stars 
A golden glow from the living room.
... and from the kitchen lights. 
Enough to go all the way around.
... and the moon
Distinctive in detail.
Yellow lanterns for seeing the way.
A Dave-like apparition. 
Turn on the lights!.
