2011 Sekon Calendar (archive)
Update, May 10:
The calendar is wide open as of now, so send your dates, even if your plans are tentative. I have indicated a few tentative (and negotiable) weekends myself: times I can and may be there (and would love to have other family there), not necessarily will be there.
If you are thinking of being at camp during the week of July 4th, or around the Steak Roast, please send your dates ASAP. As Dave won't have quite as much time at camp this year, maybe we can plan overlapping visits so that Dad can spend some time there with us, even when Dave cannot be there. (We have to get him working on painting those windows again.)
Note on July 4th weekend: Once again the Sekon Association annual meeting is on Saturday (July 2). I'm suspicious that the meeting has been scheduled for Saturday deliberately, with knowledge that fewer people will be there to vote. We've missed the annual meeting the last couple years and I think we really need to be represented at the meeting this year, which will probably require driving to camp on Friday.
If you will be there on July 4th or Steak Roast weekend, be sure to sign up early. Having a crowd should be OK as long as everyone takes responsibility for shopping, cooking, cleaning.
Notes:
- As usual, Dave will go up to open camp on Memorial Day weekend. Once again, I will have to work that weekend, so I will plan to be at camp the weekend before.
- I am taking Dad to his 62nd college reunion in Albany the weekend after Memorial Day (June 3 & 4).
- Dad and Alan will be going to Atlanta for the 517th Reunion, which is July 13 - 18, marked with asterisks (*) on the calendar.
- As agreed at our April 2010 meeting, a couple weekends during July and/or August can be scheduled for "exclusive use" on a rotating basis. Ken and Scott had a turn last year, so this option is open to Alan, Sue, Dave and Jeff. If you want to choose a weekend for exclusive use, please send your request ASAP.
- I imagine there will probably be weekday dates available for inviting others to camp.
- I've indicated dates in September when I plan to be there with the Breakfast Club.
- Unless something unusual comes up, camp closing will be the weekend of Columbus Day.
Printing the calendar
The layout of this web page does not translate well to a printed version. I will work on making printer-friendly versions of the calendar available soon.
Schedule your visits
Figure out which dates you can be at Sekon and send them to Sue to be added to the calendar using this handy web form or by email.
Info to include:
- Total number and names of the people who will be visiting
- Dates of visit and, if possible, intended arrival & departure times (as in "arriving early evening of 7/9 and leaving by noon on 7/12)
How to read the calendar
I guess we're probably all used to this by now.
- Those who are scheduled to be at Sekon will be listed on each date.
- Arrivals and departures for each date will be indicated in blue.
- Dates when one (or more) of us is scheduled to be at Sekon will be dark gray. All family members are welcome: The more the merrier.
- Dates that are tentative or negotiable will be light tan: when one of us is planning to be there, but may be adjusted.
- NEW: dates when one of us has arranged use of the camp for friends and other family (non-Powell) will be indicated in yellow.
Send your visiting preferences as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the less negotiable the schedule will be.
FYI: 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 calendars are still available, in case they may be of use.
