2015 Sekon Calendar (archive)

Note on the Sekon Annual Meeting: The Sekon Association annual meeting is the "first Saturday in July" which would be the 4th. Please speak up if you plan to help represent the Sekon 596 LLC.

Update, May 9th:

The calendar is available, so send your dates, even if your plans are tentative. If you are thinking of being at camp during the week of July 4th, or around the Steak Roast, be sure to sign up ASAP.

• The President and First Lady, Jeff and Maureen, were at camp the first meekend in May, and reported that the Sekon sewer system is open. The Sekon Spring Work Weekend has been rescheduled to Memorial Day weekend. Jeff is thinking of turning the water on early this year to avoid schedule conflict with Sekon work and Spruce Lodge work.
• July 4th week, Labor Day week, and the two weeks around Steak Roast are "reserved for any and all family who want to squeeze in". The more, the merrier ... and more to share the load for shopping, cooking and cleaning.
• All Powell family are welcome to gather during summer weekends. In the event of overload, signing up later increases the chance of sleeping in the living room or hall.
• Weekends during July and/or August can be scheduled by two LLC members per summer on a rotating basis for "exclusive use".
• Otherwise, if you want to schedule friend and "in-law" visits to camp during July and August, weekdays are generally available. If other family are already listed, please check with them first.
• Check the calendar during the summer to take advantage of unclaimed weekends. Send an update if you are thinking of an impromptu visit. Send a message to the LLC membership to check for space availability or to request clearance to invite friends for a "last minute" trip on an unoccupied weekend.
• As far as I know now, Camp Closing will be October 10 and 11, Columbus Day weekend.

Schedule your visits

Figure out which dates you want to be at Sekon and send them to be added to the calendar using this handy web form or by email.

Info to include:

• Total number and names of the people who will be visiting
• Dates of visit and, if possible, intended arrival & departure times (as in "arriving early evening of 7/9 and leaving by noon on 7/12)

How to read the calendar

• Those who are scheduled to be at Sekon will be listed on each date.
• Arrivals and departures are indicated in blue.
• Dates when one or more of us is scheduled to be at Sekon are gray. All family members are welcome: the more, the merrier.
• Light tan indicates dates that are tentative or negotiable: one of us is planning to be there, but may be adjusted.
• NEW: dates when one of us has requested use of the camp for friends and other family (non-Powell) will be indicated in yellow.

Send your visiting preferences as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the less negotiable the schedule will be.

FYI: This is the ninth year for the calendar. We started it for the last year Mom was at camp, 2007. Calendars for 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 are also archived and available for reference.
