2020 Sekon Calendar

Note on the Sekon Annual Meeting: The Sekon Association annual meeting is the "first Saturday in July" which would be 10am on the 4th. David was scheduled to be there for the meeting. Ken and Sue also arrived for the weekend and attended the meeting.

Update, August 18:

The calendar is available, so send your dates, even if your plans are tentative. I imagine it is unlikely there will be large family gatherings around July 4th, Labor Day or around the Steak Roast. I have not received definite notice whether the Steak Roast will occur.

David, Sharon and Sue partially opened camp on Memorial Day weekend. We turned on the water and burned the peanut oil off the wood stove. David picked up pine cones and mowed. Basic supplies and cleaning supplies are restocked.

• Recent news has included reports of family gatherings that resulted in clusters of COVID cases spread by persons who were asymptomatic and had no idea they were carrying the virus.
• In order to avoid (real and perceived) risk of exposure to infection, please send a message to all LLC members if you are thinking of visiting at camp. Let's make sure we coordinate visits to camp so that we can all be confident that we will remain safe.

NOTE: I've marked some time in late August/September with a visit for Marilyn and John. As Marilyn lives in an area where coronavirus cases are exploding, and her immune system is severely compromised, she can't safely go to stores or restaurants, can't fly or stay in hotels. A trip to the camp seemed impossible for her until we thought of renting an RV.

Sharon and I plan to self-quarantine for two weeks and get COVID tested before heading down to NC to pick up a rental RV, stock it with food, pick up Marilyn and John, and drive north, stopping only for pay-at-the-pump gas. We're planning for them to be at camp for two weeks.

Scheduling your visits

Figure out which dates you can be at Sekon and send them to Sue to be added to the calendar using this handy web form or by email.

Info to include:

• Total number and names of the people who will be visiting
• Dates of visit and, if possible, intended arrival & departure times (as in "arriving early evening of 7/9 and leaving by noon on 7/12)

How to read the calendar

I guess we're probably all used to this by now.

• Dates when one (or more) of us is scheduled to be at Sekon are gray.
• Dates that are tentative or negotiable are light tan: when one of us is planning to be there, but may be adjusted.
• NEW: dates when one of us has arranged use of the camp with friends and other family (non-Powell) will be indicated in yellow.

Send your visiting preferences as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the less negotiable the schedule will be.

FYI: We started this calendar in 2007, to coordinate parent care during the last year Mom was at camp. Calendars for 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 are archived and available for reference.
